Linda Tully is an interior designer in Findlay, Ohio.

About Linda Tully

Linda studied Interior Design in the Midwest before moving to Phoenix Arizona in 1992 where she discovered the art of the drapery workroom. While raising a family she started sewing and making drapes, roman shades, valances, cornices, and bedding for friends and family. With a never-ending supply of work and an increasing amount of challenging requests she endeavored to learn as much about the custom drapery business as she could.

Custom Coverings was established in Linda’s garage in the fall of 2000. She attended many drapery conferences and exhibited her work at several trade shows. After honing her craft and obtaining a long list of wholesale and retail clients Linda was able to build her own custom shop. The large space enabled her to hire help and increase production. Custom Coverings was awarded Workroom of the Year in 2011 by Window Fashions Vision magazine.

Then in 2012, the Tully family began a journey that took the workroom on an unpredictable cross country adventure. Mr. Tully was relocated to California so the family moved and made plans to settle into the new state. Linda met a local designer needing a workroom and set up Custom Coverings with Decorating Den Interiors. Linda also worked for the local Decorating Den as a decorator.

Less than a year later the family moved to Texas where Custom Coverings took hiatus and Linda studied at Austin School of Fashion Design (ASFD). Although the classes were specific to clothing Linda learned valuable lessons about draping fabric for patterns and drafting flat patterns using slopers. She has translated these unique skills into window treatment pattern making. At the end of that year, the Tully’s moved to Orlando Florida. Fearing another quick move Linda worked for a local workroom, Suncraft Drapery instead of setting up Custom Coverings. She was hired on as head of the Top Treatment department and enjoyed working among other seamstresses with decades of experience.

The next year the family moved to Springfield Missouri where Linda was happy to find another local Decorating Den Interiors. Custom Coverings set up shop exclusive to the Shivers Team in their large facility. Linda was happy to have two long years working with Nola Shivers and her amazing interior designers and staff.  Linda helped Nola design a beautiful arched cornice with box pleated panels which took 1st place in the Window Treatment category of Decorating Den’s annual Dream Room contest. That same year Linda attended IWCE (International Window Coverings Expo) as a speaker. She shared her favorite workroom tips and tricks, taught pattern making, and described her process of sketching to scale.

Then in 2016, the family moved to Lexington Kentucky where Custom Coverings set up once again and Linda also worked as decorator for Jeanne Sallee’s Decorating Den Interiors. Linda and Jeanne collaborated on many beautiful window treatments which were entered in Vision’s 2019 Ingenuity Workroom competition and Decorating Den’s 2019 Dream Room contest. The winners will be announced this March at IWCE and in May at Decorating Den’s national conference.

Custom Coverings and the Tully’s recently moved to Findlay Ohio where Linda continues to provide workroom service to her interior design clients in Missouri and Kentucky. Linda also established a second location in Phoenix AZ in February 2019. Linda’s early years in business helped her learn the importance of collaboration between the workroom and designer. Custom Coverings specializes in challenging windows and combination top treatments. Many homes have difficult areas where the architecture or the ceiling height provides issues that cannot be solved with ready-made products. By including the workroom in the early stages of planning and client consultation the final results will be much more satisfactory (even award-winning!) and many expensive mistakes can be avoided.

I had the pleasure of installing for Linda Tully owner of Tully Drapery Shop for several years. She has an amazing talent in window coverings design, creativity for fabrication, and unique engineering for installation. Linda was present at every install, big or small, and would always help out, even climbing tall ladders. She is a hard worker and does not shy away from a challenge. I was very sad when Linda moved away from Arizona, but very grateful for the years I had contracted for Tully Drapery Shop. Not only did I learn a lot from her, I also made valuable relationships with local designers that hired Tully Drapery Shop for their own clients

Michelle Donahue - Interior Home Designs, LLC

I have known Linda Tully for about 15 years. I have had the honor and privilege of working alongside Linda in the workroom for about 7yrs. I began in this industry the day Linda took me under her wing and taught me the amazing craft and skill of custom work in home decor. Linda is meticulous with her work and has the greatest talent working and creating such amazing treatments out of a simple bolt of fabric. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. Her ability to draft rendered drawings by hand and bring such a beautiful design on paper into reality is simply amazing. I worked with Linda in Arizona and she taught me such great skills, tricks and ideas that I carry with me today. She marches to her own beat. Linda is the kind of person who works SO hard, but she definitely works SMART. She was and is the BEST teacher for this kind of work. Linda is so patient, calm and thorough with everything she would have me do while we worked together. Even if I didn’t know how to do something, she always had a way of explaining it beautifully. What I know is she has a great gift that comes naturally to her and she works gracefully. Most people have to study, train and read up on the latest trends, styles of treatments, etc. I am sure Linda stays on top of updating herself on designs as well, but she always has a way of doing it with her own sense of style and flair that makes it her own. Even though we are many states away, I still keep in contact with her for assistance and guidance on challenges I face. She is my “go-to” teacher! I, to this day, still boastfully express to others what a terrific educator and leader she is to the trade. I was and still am proud that I was a part of Tully Drapery Shop and the work we did. I am grateful she took time to teach me what I know today and apply it to my own business. I’ve had many moments of doubting my ability to do this trade and Linda always believes in me more than myself. I would not be where I am today without her encouraging and believing in my own potential. I wish there were more teachers/ leaders like her in this industry.
